IR in Flexographic Printing

Invented in 1873, flexography remains one of the most popular printing methods, especially for packaging. Infrared heat provides many benefits to the flexo process. Chief among these is its even application of heat. Infrared technology from Heraerus Noblelight is a popular means for drying printing inks. IR dries the inks quickly and uniformly, allowing higher throughput and preventing bottlenecks in production. Responsive infrared technology stands up to the demands of today's digital flexography.

Specific usues of infrared in flexo applications include:

  • Drying ink on medical slides
  • Drying water-based ink on paper
  • Intermediate drying of ink on wallpaper
These examples are by no means a complete list. Infrared heat is an effective and efficient means of applying process heat in photovoltaics and many other applications.
