Drying Paper With IR

Paper can be dried effectively and efficiently using infrared heat. The consistent properties of IR mean that heat can be applied evenly across a product's surface area. Here are some paper drying examples featuring Heraeus infrared technology.

  • A printing operation needed a fast, efficient means of drying paper. Their previous method -- offset printing with drying by more than 1000 halogen lamps -- was too expensive. They switched to flexo printing with a modular drying system from Heraeus Noblelight. The Heraeus system reduced the number of lamps needed by nearly 90%. Production speed increased, control increased, and costs fell dramatically.

  • A manufacturer of disposable tray mats used on airlines sought a method to dry the non-slip coating applied to the mats. A modular system from Heraeus Noblelight using carbon lamps provided the process with a fast line speed, rapid on/off switching (preventing damage to the product) and a high quality finish.
These examples are by no means a complete list. Infrared heat is an effective and efficient means of applying process heat in many other applications.
